Forge Rules

Forge Rules

Any person or company is welcome to submit their request for the inclusion of a project on JasperForge. There are some basic rules that all projects must comply with to qualify for inclusion. Failure to comply may result in the denial of a request or removal of a project.

A project request needs to contain a reasonable description providing the reason for wanting to start a project. All official communication in a project must be in the English language. This means the initial project request and news items for your project, for example. Information in the actual project can be in a language other than the English language. Please provide a translation or summary in the English language with this non-English language information. All software distributed though JasperForge must be developed for running on a Jaspersoft platform (e.g., Jaspersoft Business Intelligence Suite), or have a distinct purpose for the Jaspersoft platform.

All public projects on JasperForge must be distributed under a free or open source software (OSS) license, such as GPL, LGPL, BSD, Apache, etc. Exceptions apply. Only projects which are non-commercial in nature can be started under most circumstances. Exceptions are made for Jaspersoft partners, resellers, system integrators, and other partners in the Jaspersoft ecosystem that want to create Private projects or Listing projects.

If a project is an extension of another project, a module for example, collaboration with the original project is strongly advised. Please contact the developer(s) beforehand to see if your project can be included with the original one. If the original developer is not interested, a new project can be started.

Translations of Jaspersoft projects, frontend or backend, are allowed. Translations of third-party developers software should be made available through the mother project and created as a language subproject.

No projects with adult, sexually explicit nature are allowed. Projects must not be promoting or engaging in illegal activities. Projects may not imply in any way that inclusion in the JasperForge.org constitutes endorsement by Jaspersoft or JasperForge.org.
