What a great time to be in open source software! And, what a great time to be in business intelligence! The Jaspersoft community and customer base never stops energizing us . . . and urging us toward ever-greater possibilities with our reporting and analytics tools. I am thrilled to be leading Jaspersoft at this point in time. I spent all of 2006 and 2007 serving on Jaspersoft’s Board of Directors. For the past nearly 6 months, I’ve been President & CEO. Top on my early agenda: meeting with the community and customer base and learning as much and as quickly as possible. Collectively, you’ve not disappointed. From your experience and perspective, I’ve learned a lot.

I know that you place big value in Jaspersoft delivering affordable but simple-to-integrate and use open source business intelligence tools. I know that you admire the rapid product advancements and innovation that we’ve delivered and the fact that our business and operating principles are totally transparent (which enables us to earn and maintain your trust). I also know that you place great value on the people and knowledge at Jaspersoft, which gives you greater assurance that we’ll continue to build the kind of products and company that you are proud to be associated with. Maybe most importantly, you’ve told me remarkable stories about the breadth and depth of expertise within the Jaspersoft community – and I’ve seen this firsthand. I see the depth of this expertise whenever I visit JaspeForge.org and check up on the latest (of over 300) projects. I am reminded of the breadth of this expertise when I visit JasperBabylon (also on the JasperForge) to see how many new localized language versions of Jaspersoft products are now available (over 24!). For all these reasons and more, you’ve helped me understand the value that we all create together.

After just 6 months on the job, this is my pledge to you: Jaspersoft will continue to deliver the world’s most capable open source business intelligence tools in the world. And, we’ll do so with unmatched energy and transparency. In return, I’ll simply ask that you use those tools everywhere you can. And, tell the world about them so ours continues to be the most vibrant business intelligence community anywhere. In the meantime, tell me how we’re doing.
