Jaspersoft v3, Red Hat as an OEM, and the Spirit of Open Source
I spent most of last week at the
Red Hat Summit in Boston. The Red Hat team did a good job creating a conference that seemed to deliver
real value to a reported 1,000 attendees from their developer community and customer base. Many great
conversations occurred in a wide variety of technical sessions - and you could sense the continued
progress of open source throughout the event. Because the Summit represents a sizable gathering of those
who are faithful users of open source technology, this seemed like a natural place for us to debut what
is the most important product upgrade in Jaspersoft’s history. Jaspersoft was a sponsor and
exhibitor, but much more importantly, we used this Summit as the launch point for Jaspersoft Business
Intelligence Suite v3. Fortunately, the press and analyst opinion of our new products has been
outstanding and we already have a dozen early customers and thousands of engaged community members who
have endorsed Jaspersoft v3. If you are among these early reviewers and adopters, I thank you for your
time and many positive contributions.
Also at the Red Hat Summit, we
announced a new OEM partnership with Red Hat. JasperServer Professional will be embedded within the Red
Hat Network (Satellite) to provide sophisticated reporting and analytics on a wide variety of systems
management and monitoring information. The real winners are Red Hat customers as the new reporting and
analytics capabilities they’ll receive via Jaspersoft will far surpass what is in place today.
As a team, we’ve worked on
Jaspersoft v3 for many months. I’m most proud that this release includes so much functionality
that began with the Jaspersoft community. Because of this, we are now eager to deliver the generally
available release back for review and use. Immediately, the 30-day trial version of Jaspersoft v3
Professional Edition is available (at http://www.jaspersoft.com/jasper
softv3_eval_landing_download.html ) for download. By June 30, the Jaspersoft v3 Community Edition
will be available (at www.jasperforge.org ) for full download.
As you experience either edition of v3, your comments and feedback are wanted and
anticipated.
And, thanks again for making the
Jaspersoft BI Community the most vibrant and valuable on the planet.

"JasperReports is an excellent tool, very simple and highly flexible. I have been evaluating Jasper for the last month on some very complicated reports, and I am very happy with the results. "
