The iReport Team is pleased to announce the new iReport release: 3.7.4.
iReport is available as standalone application and as NetBeans plugin for NetBeans IDE 6.5.x and later. This version includes several improvements and bug fixes.

New features and changes:
- Full support for JasperReports 3.7.4
- New Spider Chart component
- Built-in support for server certificates when connecting to an https instance of JasperServer
- New ability to import an XML/A data source from JasperServer to iReport
- Ability to link multiple input controls to a report unit at a time

- new table component added to simplify designing tables with variable number of columns;

- new PPTX exporter added to the core library to help creating PowerPoint 2007 documents
based on the Office Open XML format;

- upgrade to Java 5.0; starting with this release, JasperReports is no longer compatible
with Java 1.4 and makes use of newer language features such as generics and typed enums;

- simple XML-DOM-based font extension implementation added to eliminate the dependency on Spring

Packt is pleased to announce iReport 3.7, a beginner's tutorial book aimed at introducing the iReport environment and providing example-oriented tutorials to develop reports from scratch. Written by Shamsuddin Ahammad, this book will show readers how to create, format and export reports using iReport 3.7.

iReport is a visual report designer built on Jasper Reports that provides developers the power to create sophisticated layouts containing charts, images, sub reports and crosstabs. This book will introduce readers to the iReport environment and steer them through each point of the report setup, to creating them in PDF, RTF, and other formats found online.

Using examples based on a sample Inventory Management System, readers will learn to develop simple to dynamic enterprise-level reports with ease. This book will also guide developers to use different report templates, include data to master detail reports as well as add images to their report.
