Jaspersoft Announces Partnership with Japanese Master Distributor

Jaspersoft Announces Partnership with Japanese Master Distributor

Workbrain Japan to sell and support Jaspersoft as the distributor’s exclusive open source BI package

SAN FRANCISCO and TOKYO, January 20, 2010 – Jaspersoft, creator of the world’s most widely used business intelligence software, today announced its new partnership with Workbrain Japan, a Tokyo-based software distributor focused on next-generation IT, to deliver its products and services to the Japanese market.

The Japanese technology market is at the cutting-edge of innovation both in consumer electronics and in the enterprise. Linux kernel development and open source software adoption have been embraced in the country, and today private Japanese businesses and the government are proactively looking for open source alternatives to bloated, expensive and ineffective solutions.

Jaspersoft has gained a reputation for delivering powerful BI features at a fraction of the cost of the aged, proprietary solutions. Traditional BI vendors have had some success in the region historically but as customers look to scale BI projects with limited budgets, a new reality is setting in. Now, with a mature and robust open source BI option from Jaspersoft, companies will be able to deploy important BI projects that have been tabled until now.

“Our commitment to the Japanese market is based on customer demand, which results from an unmet need for scalable, affordable BI,” said Brian Gentile, CEO of Jaspersoft. “Workbrain has the best BI experts in the industry with a distinct understanding of customer requirements. Jaspersoft has the affordable, enterprise-class BI platform to meet the unmet need. Working together, I look forward to our solving a wide variety of customer problems.”

Workbrain Japan was co-founded by Naoki Iwamitsu, the former founder of Cognos Japan. The company’s executive team has extensive knowledge about customers’ BI requirements and is a key reason for Jaspersoft’s choice to partner with the company.

“As the world’s most widely used BI software, Jaspersoft is a natural partner for us,” said Naoki Iwamitsu, co-founder, WorkBrain. “It is a market disruptor with an advanced feature set based on an open source development model. We’re happy to bring these products to our customers.”

CEO Brian Gentile will be visiting Tokyo January 20-23, 2010 to meet with Japanese customers and partners.

Jaspersoft just last week announced the availability of Jaspersoft 3.7 and its new Enterprise Edition. Jaspersoft 3.7 provides powerful functionality for even the most complex BI requirements at an affordable price. The Enterprise Edition offers a complete package of the most advanced business analytics and reporting functionality available from an open source software provider. “We are very pleased that the timing of the launch of Jaspersoft's 3.7 release coincides with the beginning of our distribution relationship with the company," said Naoki Iwamitsu, co-founder, Workbrain Japan. “The product features, maturity and Japanese localization deliver exactly what the Japanese market is looking for: a competitive and affordable BI solution.”
