How to report a bug

If you think you have found a bug in iReport, if something is not working as expected or if you're just missing a feature, and you think it might be useful to many other users, fill out a bug in the tracker. Here is how to do:

1. Login to the JasperForge.org (an account is required to submit bugs and requests for enhancements).
2. Go to http://stage.jasperforge.org/projects/ireport/tracker/reportadvance

For bugs, select the category Bugs iReport - NB
For feaure requests, select the category Feaure requests

Additional tips

There are many iReport users. Very few of them report bugs. And there is an even smaller number of people who actively fix bugs reported by users. Here are some tips to make your bug report better so that someone will be able to help you.
  • Always search the bug database first
  • If you don't understand an error message, ask for help on the forum
  • Use English
  • Don't report bugs about old versions
  • Only report one problem in each bug report
  • If possible, describe a way to reproduce it, or attach to the bug a Jrxml useful to reproduce the problem. Anyway try to spend few minutes to brifely describe
  • the problem without leaving any importan details out

If you are proposing a new feature, and you strongly belive it can be useful, or if you took to heart a bug you want to see solved soon invite people to vote for your RFE or bug.
